What My Art Is About
Based on Wilmington Island in Savannah, Georgia, my work is born from a deep appreciation for the stories that live beneath the surface. Influenced by my travels and a lifetime of emotions unknown to me until they reveal themselves through my paintbrush, I turn to watercolor, oils, and acrylics to find form for what resists language. I often leave visible brushstrokes (and sometimes drips) on the canvas as a way of preserving the character of how the piece came to life. Through painting, I explore both the weight of human emotion and the simple beauty of the natural world.
Each piece—whether a moody abstract, a vibrant study of sea life, or a scene from a distant shore—is a quiet search for the relief found in expression. At times, it is a way to bridge the gap between what we remember and what we can finally let go of.
My creative journey is a constant balance between mood and structure, shifting from free-flowing abstracts to deliberate, grounded details. By bringing the essence of a subject into tangible form, I want to offer more than just a visual experience; I want to provide a sanctuary. These works are intended to serve as a companion for those seeking a moment of peace and a deeper connection to the unnamed feelings and quiet wonders that make us human.
